NYS Photonics Board of Officers Announces Tool Installation Work Begins at AIM Photonics TAP Facility in Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY (May 8th, 2018)  The New York State Photonics Board of Officers (NYS Photonics Board) announced today that tool installation has begun on schedule at the American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics) Test, Assembly and Packaging (TAP) Facility in Rochester. In addition, AIM Photonics forecasts the facility renovation will be completed $3.2 million under budget, a savings of 17%.

NYS Photonics Board News Release: New York State Photonics Board of Officers Endorses $30 Million Photonics Attraction Fund

Rochester, NY (March 2nd, 2018) Board Also Recommends $30 Million for Continued State Funding of AIM Photonics in Rochester. The NYS Photonics Board endorsed Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed $30 million Photonics Attraction Fund and was updated on the progress at the TAP Facility, including the near completion of the consortium’s renovated Lake Avenue office space at ON SemiConductor.

AIM Team Develops Sarin Gas Sensor

Photonics West Show Daily (Feb. 1st, 2018)  A new sensor for deadly sarin gas has been developed as a chemical warfare tool by an AIM Photonics team, with a goal of extending the technology to broader market applications. The results were described by AIM partners on Monday at the Frontiers in Biological Detection conference session covering integrated photonics. Session chair Benjamin Miller, the AIM Photonics academic lead and a professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center, said the sarin sensor illustrates AIM's goal of producing breakthroughs that will quickly become products fabricated for industrial markets...
