Manufacturing Day

Local high school students will celebrate Manufacturing Day with AIM Photonics on October 6, 2023. Students from Cohoes High School’s AP Physics class and a group of 11th and 12th grade students from Tamarac High School will learn about silicon photonics manufacturing and tour the Albany NanoTech Complex with AIM Photonics Director of Education and Workforce Development Bob Geer and Photonics Engineering Manager Nicholas Fahrenkopf.

During their visit, students passionate about STEM fields will have the unique opportunity to:

  • Witness firsthand the innovative work carried out in integrated photonics and advanced manufacturing, gaining insights into cutting-edge processes and technologies.

  • Learn about the educational journey required to excel in the photonics industry, including the various educational pathways and training programs available to kick-start their careers.

  • Explore a wide range of job opportunities, from hands-on technical roles to managerial positions, and gain a deeper understanding of the skill sets needed by the industry.

  • Experience a guided tour of the state-of-the-art Albany NanoTech Complex, which houses AIM Photonics.
