New York's Quantum Investments Highlight AIM Photonics' Role in Advanced Packaging
“Together, the state and federal commitments seek to bridge New York’s upstream hardware, semiconductor, and cryogenic assets with downstream enterprise demand across financial services, defense, and healthcare.”
New York State is expanding its investment in quantum technology with a $360 million capital allocation aimed at strengthening research, infrastructure and commercialization. The initiative includes $300 million for a Quantum Research and Innovation Hub at Stony Brook University and $60 million to establish up to four regional quantum technology commercialization hubs.
A recent article by Quantum Computing Report examines how these investments, together with federal funding for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, are strengthening New York's quantum technology capabilities. The article identifies the TAP facility in Rochester as a key asset in the state's quantum optics and photonics infrastructure, providing access to advanced photonic integrated circuit testing, assembly and packaging capabilities.
Through its open-access services, AIM Photonics helps researchers and companies address the complex integration challenges involved in developing quantum photonic devices and moving them toward functional systems. These capabilities provide an important connection between quantum technology research and the manufacturing infrastructure needed to support commercialization.
